MALLORY
Bringing order, livability and style to a disorganized backyard.
Where many yards feel like a single oversized and underutilized space, these clients inherited a series of poorly connected levels from the previous owners. An unfinished and awkwardly positioned garage foundation paired with curvilinear raised beds made for visual chaos and unusable space.
The critical first step for this project was developing different levels of living space and planting that stitch together the existing house with the unfinished foundation. A future ADU and studio to be built on the foundation requires flexibility so several large potted plant groupings move as needed with furniture and a free-standing fire pit.
The plant palette is minimal, with a focus on PNW summer-dry plants that provide year-round textures and featured use of the clients favorite plant, oakleaf hydrangea.
